oil in the clutch case? soooo the oil could be causing the belt to slip which would create loss of output power to the wheels when a load is put on it?

sounds like a bad seal.

 

Yeah. That is the issue. I put the belt on after I dried It a bit and the quad had plenty of power. The oil is coming from a leaky seal on the secondary drive but I don't know which one as it looks like there are a few. Any ideas.

The good is that so far its been pretty simple. The bad is that I have spent more time working on this Polaris in the past week than I have spent on my crf in 5 years.

 

#1 and #18 are both oil seals. does it look like it's leaking from one of those?

 

There is oil on the shaft so one of those are probably the culprit. Any idea how to remove #8? It's a total pain!

how is it giving you trouble?

 

Im assuming I need to back it off the remove the rear pulley. I can find a way to keep #7 from spinning with it. The mechanical advantage is huge. Do I need a special pulley or am I missing something? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

strap wrench around 7 and impact wrench on 8 should do the trick. watch out tho, it is spring loaded, might wanna wear some safety glasses before taking off #6. (3 is the spring)
